- Lotta Törnroth and Simon Berg in conversation with C-print.
Having assigned Gothenburg-based painters Fredrik Åkum and Tomas Lundgren with the same task earlier this year, the turn has come for friends and former HFF School of Photography graduates Lotta Törnroth and Simon Berg (<3) to freely record a conversation in which the notions of death, anxieties and turning the lens towards one's own parents are brought to the table.

(2016.03.30) - Agnes Thor - As the river runs, now in the store.
Agnes Thor’s second monograph is a revisit to her childhood home and its surrounding areas. She has created a visual map over the landscape that was once her whole world, staying within the boundaries of the past. Shooting over the course of eight years, it is also a document of time and seasons passing, and a meditation over the Swedish landscape.
(2016.01.25) - Juxtapoz: As The River Runs by Agnes Thor
In her recently released book “As The River Runs”, photographer Agnes Thor returns to her childhood home in Sweden and visually explores the physical perimeters set forth by her parents around their home when she was a child.
Revisiting places that once held a magical element during her childhood, Thor uses her elegant attention to light and detail to provide a visual narrative that draws the viewer into a place where time has stopped and all that remains is the wistful vision she has presented. With a beautifully tragic foreword by the artist, the scene is set for the viewer to explore the four sections of images. Through her pairing of images, a true sense of place is formed where the viewer can’t help but form an attachment to it’s structures, objects, and landscapes. “As The River Runs” is published by Blackbook Publications and was released in November 2015. —Canbra Hodson

The fields, the river, the garden. The river, the garden, the fields.
As an unspoken mantra, these were the places I was drawn to, and photographed, every time I came back home after my parents separated. I went out in the mornings, the evenings, the snow, the sun, re-exploring my childhood world. It was a process of grief, trying to grasp the last vague memories of what once were, and a way of creating a visual map based on those memories. Revisiting old hiding spots and places I played, walking the same routes and trails over and over.
The resulting work As the river runs, is a visual contemplation over the landscape that had made up my entire world, and despite being grownup, and free to do whatever I want, I subconsciously stayed within the limits of my childhood. My fear of certain places still echoed, and the strong respect for boundaries remained and limited my movements. I stayed close to home, physically and mentally.

Shot over eight years, it is also a story about time, the seasons passing, and a meditation over the Swedish landscape – once a world filled with adventures, myths and stories. Now just a garden, a river, and the fields. - Blackbook Publications are at Bok och Bild 2015

- A thin new publication: the Paper. By Signe Vad is handed out free of charge at her exhibition in TYS.

- Now available Att vänta på det oundvikliga: berättelser från havet By Lotta Törnroth
Törnroth is interested by the power of the sea and the relation between man and the sea. Photography, text and sculpture form a story about the potential catastrophe at sea. What happens within us, just waiting for it to happen and the effect it has after the catastrophe has happened. Being torn between hope and despair, but also the beauty of not giving up.
The work is a three-part story including photographs and essays

VERNISSAGE
